CXX: Fun At A Distance!

One of my fears during this pandemic was that families would lock themselves away inside their homes and completely veg out. So, I was so happy to see people actively engaging, not only with themselves, but also their loved ones, during these times.

I noticed this during a little trip to one of my favorite places. Per usual, I went to just enjoy some nature, scenery and fresh air! I had no clue, however, that I’d be in for such a treat:

WELCOME TO FOLSOM LAKE

This trail was filled with people running, families riding bicycles, and lifted trucks driving down to the water!

After walking a couple of miles around the grounds, I worked up quite the appetite. Little did I know, the city of Folsom has decided to keep the good vibes going, pandemic and all! So, my first stop was:

This cute pastry shop is wonderfully located and filled with delicious sweet desserts, breakfast foods, french pastries, mousse cakes, housemade chocolates and confections!

Don’t believe me? Click here to check out their website.

And get into this ambiance…

Alright, alright you get it! The place is simply beautiful, but let’s get into the menu! If you can get past the desserts, you’ll see that Julian’s can make you just about any variety of crepe, my personal favorite—chocolate croissants, and a delicious variety of sandwiches!
I’m going to encourage you all to look at the menu for yourselves by clicking here.

These were the desserts that I selected. In a full exercise of self control, I went with only 3!

As if my dessert didn’t do the trick, the next stop was….

PETES RESTUARANT AND BREWHOUSE

Honestly, the menu is what got me.
I’m usually drawn to any restaurant that offers either a barbecue or a buffalo chicken salad, but then my eyes met their pasta section and I was sold!

I ended up getting Lasagna with a twist!!!

Never had I heard of a lasagna with both a marinara and an Alfredo sauce, but when it was described to me, I was sold! I mean, look at this deliciousness!

Of course, given the current climate, dine-in lunch was not an option.

The food was a true experience! But, the best part would have to be the people that I met!

Sometimes you meet people in brief encounters who remind you that, even in the darkest of times, there’s still so much good that should be celebrated.

Thank you so much for the good vibes and the great experience!

Overall, I’d say that Folsom was an exceptional break from my day-to-day, and it was a brilliant idea with beautiful timing as it came right before our “Stay Home” orders.

I hope you all are finding joy, love and light during these quarantined times! ✌🏾
