Spare by Prince Harry (Part III)

In this mixed-up world, this pain-filled life, we’d done it. We’d managed to find each other.
— Spare by Prince Harry

is there just one person on this earth for each of us?

I started this book with part 3 because the love story is the portion of the story that I saw the most value in for me. Not only am I interested in it but I even feel a very distant but understanding connection to it for reasons that I’ll get to later in this post.

Let’s back up — I should preface this whole conversation with — I’ve never followed the British monarchy or any stories about the Royals until Meghan Markle made Harry’s universe come into focus. While I was drawn to this story for the simple fact that I believe in protecting beautiful souls and beautiful Black women at all costs, the part that has more of a hold on me was learning more about their love and Megs mind.

I curse myself for not being in-the-know while she was blazing trails with The Tig, and I truly wish that I were around for the tips and tricks that could 100% help with growing my own lifestyle blog. I was even super late to the Suits train and didn’t watch the show until late last year. But, getting to see background bits and pieces about Meghan Markle and seeing how, in this life, women like her are seemingly so rare it truly just made me interested in knowing more and more about her. She can only be described as a woman who is deeply impassioned, understanding, loving, caring, and actually knowledgeable about prevailing world issues enough to act on them. All things and qualities that are SO few and far between today. In my 30 years of life, I haven’t met one woman like this! Not one who could be described as philanthropic for the right reasons; not one so beautiful and yet so carefree about her beauty; not one who truly lives in love and light; not one whose goodness and kindness actually shines through even to complete strangers the way that hers does. As you can see, this has fully become a Meghan Markle Stan account and I stand by that! I’m someone who longs to be around such beautiful, influential, smart, and trailblazing souls… from her fashion sense, to her elegance and even the fact that she’s earned every right to live the beautiful high life of coffee/lunch at Bergdorf’s and stays at the SOHO House (which has become a new goal of mine).

But, back to the book…

Harry walks us through their relationship from it’s beautiful and secretive start to all that it’s blossomed and grown to be today and I am hooked.

I think that a big draw for me is the way that they approached their relationship from the start — as something beautiful to be fully and completely protected.

Ironically enough, this is the way that I approach my own and I am absolutely no one in comparison! But I have always seen the value in keeping the relationship for those involved. Social media today makes people feel as though they cannot be happy without other people seeing them happy, but trust me, you can! This is not at all similar to the situation that Harry and Meghan survived however… To be followed and harassed by the same over-stepping and over-zealous groups that already caused so much tragedy in your life all while dealing with racism and ridicule at every turn just for having fallen in love… The most beautiful love at that: Insane.

The writing

I am someone who gives a project about 10 pages and/or 10 minutes before deciding whether it’s for me or simply not for me.

Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly enough (haven’t decided which it is yet), I found Harry’s writing to be very smooth, connected and inviting. While the writing process includes a number of eyes, ears and edits, there are still big parts of that writer’s abilities that shine through regardless. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed the ease-of-the-read! Harry really made a page-turner for more than just the nosey reader — he tells a good story and has a great story to tell!

Controlling your narrative

Many people are presenting nothing but negatives about Prince Harry deciding to come forward with his truth — they are saying that he’s just being a crybaby over past wrongs, they’re saying that this is just to promote their Netflix special (or vice versa) and so on! But, what if it’s just the case that he wanted to, for once, control what people read about him? What if he wanted to control what people write about him? What if, for once, he wanted to have a say about what people said about his life… his life.

We seemingly forget that people grow and change as events within our lives unfold and shape us. Many of us will not remain the same through life’s many ups and downs. Harry re-lives and shares many of his ups and downs in vivid detail and yet we still act as if this man owes us anything. I personally like that he’s taking his own story and telling it on his terms. I think that we’re all able to do as much and we certainly take that freedom for granted. He’s now standing in that freedom and, who am I to stop him!?

Do I follow all of his beliefs and statements? Absolutely not. But, does that mean that he doesn’t get an opinion or a say in anything? Absolutely not. Let’s be real, guys!

He’s finally got the reigns on his story and I’m happy that he’s leading with passions, family and love.

A sucker for love

Gosh, I guess that when it comes down to it, I’m a sucker for a love story!

As much as I hate to admit it, I love a good, wholesome, layered love story! I love seeing excitement and joy in the eyes of two people who are genuinely in love! I love catching the way that two people look at each other in that ever-so-comfortable way. I love seeing what appear to be soul connections between two people — a primer to my own connections

I love it.

And maybe that’s why I love these two so much. To fall in love so pure and so beautifully… And I mean a love that endures worthy battles is a blessing that many don’t wait for. So, yeah!

I’m a sucker for love. And, a sucker for their love.

Definitely give Spare a read. It’s really worth it! 💝
