CXXIX: Pattern Beauty — Phase II ➿ | I AM HERE FOR IT!

So, my girl Tracee Ellis Ross recently blessed us with the styling portion of her product line, Pattern Beauty.
This recent launch included the following:

  1. curl gel

  2. hydrating mist

  3. styling cream

  4. wide tooth comb

  5. strong hold gel

  6. edge control

  7. hair pick

  8. self-heating jojoba oil hair serum

  9. clarifying shampoo

As you can see, this was a fairly packed launch with products for curlies, coilies and tight textures.

Phase One

If you did not know, the first launch of Pattern Beauty was all about the Wash Day. I’ve written up a full Unboxing and First Impressions Video which you can find by clicking here. I used the products in this first launch and found those that I loved and those that I could live without (listed below). A lot of the criticism received about the first launch had EVERYTHING to do with the ingredients used to make some of the products (namely those that contained silicones). The Natural Hair Community is generally huge on product ingredients! Many of us want to stay away from alcohols, silicones, and sulfates. But some of us are more lax about these things and are able to just enjoy products when they work for us.

I fall somewhere in the middle here because I do stay away from certain products but was fully willing to give Tracee Ellis Ross’ product lines the full try-out because I am a super fan!

Common Silicones Used In Hair Products:

  1. Dimethicone

  2.  Cyclomethicone

  3.  Amodimethicone

  4. Pheryl Trimethicone

  5. Ceteraryl Methicone

  6.  Dimethiconol

Products that I loved from Phase I:

  1. Intensive Conditioner

  2. Detangling Brush

  3. Leave-In Conditioner

  4. Microfiber Towel (although a t-shirt does feel better)

  5. Patter Beauty Hair Clip

PHASE II THOUGH!

Okay, let’s get into Phase II — The Styling Products!

Let’s get into the products from this launch:

The Clarifying Shampoo:

I am almost certain that this was not a part of the first launch but I also don’t see it listed under the second, so I’m just going to associate it with the second launch but categorize it under Tracee’s Shower Products.

I used this shampoo after deep conditioning with the Intensive Conditioner and I honestly don’t know a duo that’s left my hair feeling better. My hair was visibly moisturized and moisturized to the touch. It had a very nice shine to it, and it still had bounce, joy and life!

Let’s get into the scent and lather:

So, the scent is the typical Pattern Beauty scent which, in my opinion is not terrible. It’s just a fresh scent that has the potential to get weird based on the products that you use with it because it seems to build from product to product, and that may explain why some people aren’t fond of it.

The lather on this bad boy was amazing. I honestly felt so good working this shampoo through my hair! As a comparison: my go to shampoo is Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and Restore Shampoo and compared to that, this does not strip my hair at all! Shea Moisture’s shampoo will usually leave my hair a bit fizzier and very much lacking in moisture which I generally don’t mind because I replenish the moisture with a leave-in condition right after I shampoo my hair. BUT, now that I can cleanse my hair and scalp without feeling as though my hair has been stripped of its moisture, I am definitely going to be overjoyed about it.

I’ll most likely use both interchangeably but I still just love this clarifying shampoo!

Also, compared to the Pattern Beauty Hydrating Shampoo, this Clarifying Shampoo is definitely more moisturizing and I do believe that it has better ingredients. So, if you have to choose between the two, you should go with the Clarifying Shampoo for sure.

Edge Control:

Oddly enough, this is the one product from this launch that I can absolutely live without!

For me, it’s simply the smell that’s left behind once you apply this product that I just can’t get with.

So, out of all of the products, I would not buy this one again.

Overall:

If you can’t already tell, I am obsessed with these products, so of course I’m going to suggest that everyone try them out.

One of the best parts is that, you can get travel sizes in pretty much every product. Each of the travel products are about $9, so if price is your concern, then Pattern Beauty is here to help with that as well!

I mean, Tracee has pretty much covered all bases with these products and it shows. I mean, look at the fluffy, moisturized cloud that is my hair!

So, go out and get your tresses right with Pattern Beauty!!! ➿
