Word of the Week: Unique

Unique means to be one of a kind; unlike anything else

Today carbon-copy seems to be the way to go. Everyone is working towards the same body-type, same facial structure, the same style — carbon copies.

In my view, to make it anywhere, you’ve got to be unique [in addition to working hard].

Right now, the unique are having their season! They are flourishing because they stand out in all of the right ways. Whether it’s because of their work ethic or the uniqueness within their work, it takes more to have a lasting effect.

Anyone can have one good thing, but to keep those good things coming all while growing is a completely different set of skills and that’s what helps to set apart the unique.

What Being Unique Means to me?

Being unique, to me, means that one is able to convey their messages and their art, authentically, and in a way that no one else can [or that no one else thinks to]. Unique is not to be confused with what people do nowadays for click-bait. Unique ways of conveying art will be expressing your creative eye for directing or putting the pen to the pad as a screenwriter in a way that shows characters with common struggles but in a distinct way that only you can.

With some of the unique trailblazers of today that I follow, I see a common theme in the ways that they’ve carried themselves over the years that provides for the longevity within their careers that they’ve now reached:

  • Each one has had an extensive period of putting their heads down and doing nothing but work;

  • Each one has taken the ability to hyper-focus on a goal and meditate on what it takes to achieve that goal and the ways that they could grow with that goal;

  • Each one has pushed the limits on their abilities while adding various skillsets to their arsenals; and

  • Given the work that they’ve put in, each one is in a season where no one is telling them ‘no’ and they can literally not be stopped.

The word unique is on my mind a lot lately because there is someone within view who is so unique in his human expression that it has be to written about! He’s so unique in his masculine expression. He’s unique in his expression of love and light! He’s unique in his work and craft and he’s unique in his authenticity. He is unapologetically himself and in everything that you naturally love about him! His unique qualities have gotten him so far and he continues to grow because, even when everyone else questioned it, he was steadfast in everything that he knew that he would become [and in everything that he already was]. Now there is no denying it and there’s truly no questioning it.

Uniqueness can be a healthy tool used to propel you forward within your goals and objectives. It can push you creatively into territories that other’s wouldn’t dare venture. And, it stands to further emphasize your already interesting existence.

So, stay unique, readers!
Best,
Bree 🤎
