Stress Management

Our minds and bodies are made to deal with stress.

But there is a difference in the response of our bodies to long-term stress and short-term stress (or acute versus chronic stress). While acute stress is sometimes good for our minds and bodies, espeically when considering positive stress (i.e. the stress of meeting a deadline), chronic stress tends to disrupt your body’s overall function over time (which is generally negative).

facts about stress:

  • Most people experiencing stress also experience irregular breathing which results in a number of other health issues

  • Chronic Stress can disturb immune, cardiovascular, digestive, sleep and mood symptoms

  • Stress is not a one-size-fits-all. Stress effects everyone differently with some commonalities across the board.

    Sm where feasible… ?

Sometimes it seems impossible to consider coping techniques or techniques for managing stress. It will appear to us as if our stressors are way bigger than our options, but I encourage you to simply pivot that viewpoint and change your own narrative.

Instead, adopt a mindset that acknowledges the reality of constant stressors so that your natural response to them makes them more bearable.

Acknowledge that a bit of friction in life is normal! You can react to the shock of a new situation without making its novelty the whole narrative. Instead, make the fact that you’re prepared to deal with this new stressor your story!

Stress management is not an easy task but it is one that’s possible for all of us.

    Stress less.

    Best, Bree! 🩵
