CXXXVI: Sienna Naturals (Product Review)

The trend seems to be for me to start out my product reviews with the cons, so, in true Bree fashion that’s what I’ll do!

ONE BIG CON:

The shipping and communication (package deal of horror)!

I ordered this product on OCTOBER 29, 2020.

I want that to sink in because it’s important. I ordered this product, did not receive it in PR, and this is not a sponsored post. I saw this product promoted by Issa Rae as her “go-to” products and like many others (I’m sure), I was intrigued. So, I went to the website and purchased the whole curated box.

This box retails for $75 and includes 4 products (they even threw in two satin scrunchies). The tax, state included, came to $6.57 and the shipping was $9.95. My order total was $91.52. Fine! Right?

Wrong. For a month, I heard nothing regarding my purchase. When I communicated with the brand about the whereabouts or even a status update on the production or processing of orders I received generic responses like:

“We’re excited to get the products to you…”

“We can’t wait for you to try these products out.”

“We’re looking forward to getting these products to you.”

But, NEVER did I receive actual information regarding when and where my product was! Finally on NOVEMBER 30, 2020 I received word that my product had “updated shipping information”. This must’ve simply meant that it finally made its way to a transport facility and a label was created. I finally received the products on DECEMBER 7, 2020. This ended up being a month and 7 days worth of a wait with terrible communication in-between.

At this point, I think it’s important to take you back to the fact that I paid for this month long shipping! This was probably one of my worst experiences with shipping on a product and I had to check multiple times just to make sure that they hadn’t forgotten my order. I did the bulk of the legwork when it came to follow-up and communication and that is not how things should go when you’re running a business.

ENOUGH OF THAT, LET’S GET TO THE PROS:

What’s In The Box?

  1. Plant Power Protein and Moisture Repair Mask, 10 Fl Oz.

  2. H.A.P.I. Shampoo, 10 Fl Oz.

  3. Dew Magic Leave-In Conditioning Creme, 10 Fl Oz.

  4. Daily Elixir Moisturizing Hair and Scalp Oil, 3 Fl Oz.

Packaging:

The packaging is, in my opinion, spot-on for the brand and the ingredients. They are different shades of greens and a bit of brown which a reminiscent of the earth.

Overall, these products left my hair feeling good, but I will say that other products have made my hair feel way more moisturized!

Where I think that these products went wrong was with the Leave-In Conditioner! I think that this product will definitely work for less textured hair types, but even when building and building, with Type 4 hair, it just doesn’t seem to provide the amount of moisture that I needed.

Granted, these are just products from the curated box! So, Sienna Naturals may have thicker products that can feed that need, but those simply weren’t included in this box.

If I were to rate these products on a scale from 1-10, then I’d rate them as follows:

  1. Plant Power Protein & Moisture Repair Mask: 8.5/10

  2. H.A.P.I. Shampoo: 9/10

  3. Dew Magic Leave-In Conditioner: 5/10

  4. Lock & Seal Daily Elixir Moisturizing Hair & Scalp Oil: 6.5/10
