ABOUT ME

“I write because I believe in written creativity as an ongoing beautiful outlet that holds the power to move, inspire and paint wildly vivid pictures that’ll take readers wherever they need to go. I’ll always be a writer…”

Brianna J. Grant, aka Bree or Brianna Jay is a California native, long-time learner, screenwriter, lawyer, college lecturer, therapist, author and consultant who is somehow still working on figuring this thing called “life” out.

She’s a lover of fitness, bad knees and all. She works out about 3 times a week (on a good week) and attends ballet rehearsal about 4 times a week. Moving her body in the gym or at ballet have been big parts of her mental health and self-care routines for more than a decade.

As a Black woman with a 20+ year old relationship with school, she’s managed to work for and earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in clinical psychology and a juris doctorate. She is currently working on another master’s in international corporate law which is sure to provide for some blog-worthy stories throughout the new journey.

In her free time, Brianna Jay enjoys lounging around and watching movies or playing Sims, if indoors. If she’s indoors and in the mood to work, then she’s working on a script (pilot or feature length) or her manuscript (one of many in the works). If she’s outdoors, then she’s probably eating or walking… maybe both and with good friends!

I can’t mention Brianna J. Grant without also discussing fashion! As a 30-something living in very expensive California, she does the best that she can with what she’s got which is where her style truly gets a chance to shine. Known for her consistent ability to put together an amazing look, Bree takes immense pride in her 90’s inspired, vintage-flared, business casual style that she’s rocked and become known for over time.

EXPERIENCE

Having a strong belief in mentorship and leadership, I am deeply passionate about empowering and guiding others towards their full potential. I believe that mentorship is not only about imparting knowledge and skills, but also about fostering personal growth and igniting a lifelong love for learning.

As someone who has benefitted from the guidance of mentors throughout my own journey, I understand the profound impact that a skilled and supportive mentor can have. It is my desire to pay it forward by sharing my experiences, offering guidance, and helping others develop their own leadership qualities. By teaching others, I hope to inspire and equip the next generation of trailblazers, creating a ripple effect of impactful change and personal fulfillment.

Let’s be breef-isms:

The moment that it begins to drain your energy is the moment that your focus should shift.

Good leadership and mentorship can take a person to heights that they’ve never thought possible.
If you have the ability and humility to lead, then you most certainly should.

Say less, do more.

Lifestyles of the unmotivated and unchanging

Imagine going to sleep at night and being able to dream up your perfect reality, but not being motivated enough when you’re awake to chase after it.

This story shows the contrast between life as a motivated go getter and a person so afraid of failure that they’ve instead chosen to do nothing. Watch as Emmy, a woman who has worked for and achieved it all, navigates getting even more while her mysteriously unknown counterpart works to figure out if going for more would place a target on her back or free her from the tedium that has become her life.

In this short story, you’ll get two very different takes on life that each lead you on a path towards living the life that makes you the happiest.

Ask me

Ask Me is a college tale of a young woman who is on a search for pure and true friendship. Her journey takes us on an open exploration of all of the fears surrounding what it means to let someone in and call them “friend”. It also explores themes related to the college experience, relationships, love and life’s many changes.

This story is one that will give you a young cynic’s outlook on friendships where we’ll get to consistently see Koda question motives and even herself on her journey towards letting go and realizing true friendship. This explorative journey is one that you don’t want to miss — it’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you upset and most of all it’ll foster a strong appreciate for the bonds that you’ve built - even if that comes from seeing your actions through reading about Koda’s.
